Instructions
- 1
Prepare the ingredients by finely chopping the yellow onion, mincing the garlic cloves, and shredding the mozzarella cheese from a block for better melting
- 2
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the mostaccioli pasta until just al dente, then drain and set aside
- 3
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef with the chopped onions until the meat is no longer pink and onions are translucent, then stir in the minced garlic for 1 minute
- 4
Pour the marinara sauce into the skillet with the meat mixture, adding the italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, then simmer on low for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld
- 5
Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce in a large bowl or the pasta pot until well coated, then transfer half of the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish
- 6
Layer with half of the mozzarella and parmesan, add the remaining pasta, then top with the rest of the cheese and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-30 minutes until the top is bubbly and golden brown
